1. What got you started with this brand? What was your inspiration? What is the idea/concept behind it?
I belong to a family of entrepreneurs and I’ve always wanted to start a business of my own. I wanted to start something that would not solely focus on profit, but would embody my personality as well, which was to bring joy and smiles to each household.
In the later part of 2019, I was stuck in a “crisis.” I was confused as to what kind of business to start–something that would fit me and my personality. During this time, I was following two Instagram personalities that I came to love: Heart Evangelista and Chrissy Teigen. I really loved Heart’s home, how it was filled with such beautiful home decors and dining setups. And I really wanted everything from Chrissy Teigen’s Cravings collection! The plate designs and colors were just all so pretty, and I love how all her products are so functional as well. This inspired me, and it was then I realized that this is what I want to offer people: beautiful homeware and dinnerware! I want to give people the same sort of giddiness and excitement I feel whenever I see unique home decors and dining setups.
And so there it was, Elianna was born. Elianna is my answered prayer. “Elianna,” a name with Hebrew origin, actually means “My God has answered me.”
Fun fact 1: I name my pieces after close friends and family members. I name each piece according to who seems to personify it the most.
Fun fact 2: Whenever I search for different dinnerware products to sell, I always imagine what kind of food would look best and most appetizing in them. Doing this helps me visualize and decide whether the piece is a “yay” or a “nay.”
2. What is your personal favorite product from your brand?
The Olivia Plate Set along with the Rafael Mug are perfect together, and they’re actually two of my personal favorite pieces. I’ve always imagined Olivia with a scrumptious pasta dish or maybe something fancy like delicious steak. As for Rafael, I actually haven’t seen a lot of mugs quite like it; I find the design unique.
3. What do you want people to experience with your brand/product(s)?
I want customers to feel giddy when they browse through Elianna’s products. I want them to think excited thoughts like, “Miriel is going to be perfect for my next brunch!” or “Gavin is giving me the sudden urge to whip up a dish asap!”
4. What tips and advice can you give to entrepreneurs who are just starting out or are planning to start their own brand?
a) Don’t discount yourself. The first person to believe in your brand should be you.
b) Do it because it’s what you want to do. Everything becomes easier when it’s something you really want or love.
c) Always ask for feedback. Ask for tips and advice from people who you know love seeing you grow and become successful.
5. What’s next for your brand?
Our short term plan is to expand our collection, to add more pieces to complement and complete the collection. Our long term goal is to hopefully be able to partner with local brands and artists to create original, unique pieces together.
